WoodWight - Sticks & Spirits
I am WoodWight,
spirit of wooded places, trees and the wood they give. I seek out the
spirit and character in each piece and bring it to life for all to see.
Each piece is hand carved working with the shape, colour and grain of the wood. For this reason no two pieces are ever alike.
My designs are mostly based in Celtic Pagan mythology and include Green Men, Dragons, Wood Spirits, Wizards, etc. and pieces that tell stories from mythology.
I also make magickal pieces for clients who have the Gift. If this is you, please contact me to ask about commissioning your piece.
I make wands, staffs, besoms, Athames, altar-pieces etc. I usually
have a few of each in stock, or will make them to suit indivisual
customers and their personal requirements. Please feel free to contct

I love to use wood with a story - that has had a previous
life, perhaps as part of a building or some other use. Trees have their
own life/spirit and absorb energy from the world around them. This
continues
even after the tree has been felled, so wood continues to absorb energy
wherever it is used.
The energy influences the design as I carve and can be seen and
felt in the finished item.
I carve pieces of all sizes from charms for pendants through to
large-scale projects on tree trunks, either felled or standing in situ
on their roots.
What is a Wight?
Wights are spirits of the natural world. In Pagan mythology, all of nature has its own spirit - a part of the Mother Goddess, the nature from which they were formed. These spirits reflect the places they are found. The spirit of a stream or waterfall will be light and bubbling. The spirit of an old dark wood will be deep, dark and brooding. The spirit of an old burial mound or barrow (called a barrow-wight) can be scary and even dangerous.The spirits of trees reflect the nature of the tree - Holly is often prickly, while Oak is strong and thinks long and carefully. Pine is quick and hasty while Birch is light and carefree.
